Has anyone noticed how Tokyo (the current capital of Japan) is a anagram of Kyoto (the former capital of Japan)? Well, now you have. Coincidence? Apparently, it is yes.
The anagram does not exist in Japanese.Tokyo is written 東京, whereas Kyoto is 京都.
東, meaning east, is pronounced too (as in tomato, but longer), and 京 means capital. So Tokyo means eastern capital.
都 (pronounced to, just like 東 but short) means city, so 京都 or Kyoto means capital city.
Hope this enlightened you! :)
